Two-time World Champion Evgenia Medvedeva unveils the concept for her upcoming ice show, blending figure skating with live music and a dancefloor experience on the ice. Evgenia Medvedeva’s ice show, “2000s Disco,” is set to take place on September 13 Here’s a translation of her comments.

“I want to clarify that the dancefloor won’t be in the stands— – it will be right on the ice itself. Personally, I love dancing to tracks from the 2000s, and I realized that many people probably don’t want to just sit still; they’d want to get up and dance. So, we thought, why not create a space for energetic dancing?

Especially since there will be performances by well-known musicians. Essentially, the show will be half-concert. Events like this always have fan zones where people let loose and have fun.

Last year’s show (celebrating Medvedeva’s 25th birthday) was very high-tech—it included a lot of special effects and screens, including LED displays. We worked extensively with artificial intelligence at the time. This year will also be visually vibrant, but I won’t reveal all the details just yet—sorry.

In order to focus on aesthetics last year, we sacrificed the cube set design, which wasn’t ideal for those in the back rows. Nevertheless, it didn’t interfere with the positive reception of the show. This year, we’ve taken that into account, and screens will be 100% integrated.”

Medvedeva also spoke about the skating elements audiences can expect:

“There will be difficult elements, though not from me! It’s been a couple of years since I’ve performed complex jumps, and that’s just how life played out. But we have many athletes in the cast who can deliver jaw-dropping moves—triple jumps, even quadruples. I’m confident the skaters will showcase top-level performances, just like in competitions.”
