Tatiana Tarasova commented on the International Skating Union’s (ISU) financial report, which acknowledged that “the absence of Russian athletes continues to impact commercial revenue.” Tarasova interpreted this as a testament to the significance of Russian figure skaters on the global stage. Here’s a translation of her comments.

“This proves that people don’t want to watch figure skating without Russia. We have always led the sport, dominating across all disciplines and making figure skating something different – not like in Europe or America.”

She added: “I’m glad. Maybe this fact will encourage them to reinstate us in competitions more quickly.”

Tatiana Tarasova also voiced skepticism about whether Russian athletes should participate in the 2026 Olympic Games, citing what she views as unfair treatment and a disregard for established rules.

“They are doing whatever they please without any legal grounds – completely out of line. There has always been one rule for the Olympics: a country sends its athletes, and that’s it.

But now they’re deciding who to invite and who not to, and they’re still unhappy! None of this follows the rules. They’ve become completely shameless and show no regard for the athletes.”

Reflecting on Russia’s proud Olympic legacy, Tarasova added: “We’ve always competed in the Olympics, won them, and everyone saw how we worked. So what is this chaos now?”

For the first time, Tarasova admitted to being unsure about Russia’s participation: “It’s the first time I don’t know if I want us to go or not. As of today, I have doubts.”

Tarasova is always ready with an uniformed opinion. She was amazing at being a coach, but is terrible at being a talking head.
