The figure skating ice show “Ice Brave 2” is set to debut in November, following the success of the first “Ice Brave” show produced by former world champion and now professional skater Shoma Uno (27). Here’s a translation of his comments posted on Nikkansports and Hochi News.

Ice Brave,” which premiered in June, marked a new chapter in Shoma Uno’s post-competitive skating career. Reflecting on his reasons for producing and performing in the show, Uno shared:

“Throughout my skating career, I’ve always loved the time spent challenging myself. Even after retiring from competition, my desire to challenge myself has not changed. I am thrilled to have been able to take on various challenges through the platform of ‘Ice Brave,’ even after stepping away from competitive skating.”

Uno continued: “Unlike competitions, the primary goal of this ice show is to entertain and share joy with everyone. I feel incredibly proud to have received such an amazing response from the audience through the applause and cheers we shared together at the venue. With ‘Ice Brave 2,’ I hope to continue embracing challenges and show you how I’m evolving as a skater and entertainer. I am looking forward to once again creating ‘Ice Brave’ with all of you!”

During a live Toyota Times Sports YouTube broadcast on August 18, Uno looked back on the first installment of “Ice Brave,” which toured three cities: Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Niigata.

“We successfully completed three stops, but it was exhausting! With the audience present, their applause pushes me to give more than 100%. By the end, I felt like I couldn’t even move another step, but seeing such high energy from the audience made it all worthwhile. It was truly a joy,” Uno said with a satisfied smile.
He added: “When on the ice, the loud applause is an immediate answer – it felt like a show created together with the audience.”

Anticipating “Ice Brave 2,” Uno noted: “The foundation will be a continuation of the first show, but with an upgraded level of performance. It’s not a completely different creation, but I want to include fresh challenges that distinguish ’2’ from ’1’ while preserving the best aspects of the first show. I hope to clearly showcase the differences and improvements.”

The cast for “Ice Brave 2” includes Shoma Uno along with notable skaters Marin Honda, Kohei Yoshino, Rika Hongo, Yoji Nakano, Tsunehito Karakawa, Kazuki Kushida, and Yuki Sato. The tour will kick off on November 1 at the Kyoto Aquarena and will span five cities, concluding on January 25 at Sendai’s Xebio Arena.
