Sport Vlaanderen has confirmed its top-sport contracts for nine winter athletes as they prepare for the upcoming 2024 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, scheduled to take place from February 6 to 22. Among the athletes, 18-year-old figure skater Nina Pinzarrone is the sole newcomer to the list, while eight others have had their contracts renewed.

Nina Pinzarrone made significant strides in her career by finishing 7th at the World Championships in March, a performance that earned her a spot in the Winter Olympics. Previously, she received a monthly reimbursement for expenses from Sport Vlaanderen, along with funding for her training program and additional support through BeGold. Now, her hard work and growth have been recognized with a full-time top-sport contract.

“As a young, passionate athlete, I am both happy and honored by this commitment from Sport Vlaanderen,” said Pinzarrone in a press release issued by Sport Vlaanderen. She added: “The contract will allow me to approach my preparation days and weeks in a calmer and more focused way. Finally, I can fully concentrate on my activities as an elite athlete.”

With this boost from Sport Vlaanderen, Pinzarrone is well-positioned to continue her development as a figure skater and represent Belgium with her sights set on the 2024 Winter Olympics.
