The IG Arena is one of Japan’s largest multi-purpose arenas, capable of accommodating up to 17,000 people. Its grand opening will coincide with the Nagoya Basho sumo tournament on July 13, followed by the Figure Skating Grand Prix (GP) Final in December. The GP Final will return to Japan for the first time in eight years since the 2017 Nagoya event.
Yuma Kagiyama (22) expressed his excitement about performing at the newly established IG Arena in Nagoya. On May 31, Kagiyama attended the opening ceremony at the venue and participated in a talk show where he enthusiastically said, “I’m very excited.”
Kagiyama, who won his second consecutive silver medal at last year’s GP Final, took in the five-story venue and said with a smile, “Seeing this view gave me goosebumps. I want to deliver a great result here.”
Looking ahead to the Olympic season, he added, “Of course, performing at my best at the Olympics is my ultimate goal, but every competition is important. If I can give my all and perform at my best in every event, that’s what matters most.”
