On March 6th, Tatsuya Tsuboi (22) who placed 3rd at the Japanese Nationals opened his practice to the public , as he prepared for the World Championships (March 23–30 in Boston, USA). Here’s a translation of his comments posted on Nikkansports.

During the approximately 90-minute practice session starting at 7:30 a.m., Tsuboi repeatedly performed jumps such as the quad salchow and triple axel while carefully reviewing his choreography. “My quads haven’t been in great shape, and I’ve been struggling a bit since the start of the year. But they’re gradually getting better, so I want to build momentum from here,” he shared regarding his current condition.

This will be Tsuboi’s first appearance at the World Championships. His goal is to surpass his personal best total score of 251.52, achieved at this season’s NHK Trophy, and to “finish within the top 8.” Although spots for next year’s Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics are also at stake, Tsuboi remains focused, saying, “No matter the competition, preparation is always linked to the actual performance. All I can do is give it my best.”
