Ahsun Yun from Korea, finished 9th at 2025 Four Continents Championships with a total score of 182.68. Here’s a translation of her comments posted on MFocus.
Speaking in the mixed zone after the competition, Ahsun Yun said, “I’m a little disappointed that I couldn’t deliver the clean program I was aiming for, but it was a good experience, and I think it’ll remain as a good memory.” Regarding her quick recovery from her opening jump mistake and successfully executing her jump combinations in the latter half, she explained, “Even in practice, I prepare a Plan B. Since you can never predict what will happen during a competition, I always try to be ready for various scenarios.”
“Having my first senior championship in Korea felt very special,” she told and added, “I was really happy to have so many fans cheering for me, but at the same time, I felt very nervous.” When asked about assessments that she had made noticeable progress compared to last season, she said, “There’s no particular secret, but I’ve gone through tough times, and I’ve wanted to become a stronger skater who can overcome challenges, so I’ve practiced much more.”
Her next goal is the World Championships in March. This competition is especially crucial as it will determine spots for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Ashun expressed her determination, saying, “I’m disappointed that I didn’t deliver a clean performance at this competition, but I will train harder and improve to deliver a perfect performance at the World Championships. Since it’s my first senior World Championships, I feel more nervous than burdened, but just being able to compete will be a great experience for me. I’ll give my all to secure an Olympic spot.”
This year, as a high school senior, Ahsun Yun faces the critical challenge of balancing college entrance exams with her preparations for the Olympics. “It hasn’t quite hit me yet,” she admitted. “Over the past few seasons, there have been many tough times, but I hope this competition becomes a turning point for overcoming them. I know there will be more difficult times and happy moments ahead, but I want to become a skater who can overcome it all,” she said.
