Hannah Lim and Ye Quan from Korea, finished 6th at 2025 Four Continents Championships. Here’s a translation of their comments posted on MFocus.
In a post-competition interview in the mixed zone, both skaters shared their heartfelt emotions about competing in an international event hosted in Korea. Hannah Lim expressed, “I really enjoyed my first participation in the Four Continents last year, but competing in Korea this year made it even more touching. I am delighted to have achieved my personal best score in the free dance.” Ye Quan added, “I gave everything I had on the ice today. Regardless of the result, it was a truly proud and happy moment. I was also deeply moved when I saw the national flag waving in the stands,” acknowledging that the support from home fans energized them.
It was also Ye Quan’s first international competition after getting Korean citizenship. He mentioned, “Up until now, I had only competed in domestic events such as national selections in Korea, but participating in an international event felt different. I took pride in representing Korea.”
Regarding their “Cruella” free dance, Hannah Lim stated, “We listened to intense music a lot to immerse ourselves in the character and tried to bring out the dark emotions from the movie.” Ye Quan explained, “We tried to portray characters that have an addictive relationship like Cruella. We included a bit of a Joker and Harley Quinn vibe.” They shared this with a laugh, mentioning that Hannah portrayed the Joker and Ye was Harley Quinn.
When asked about the limited number of senior ice dance teams in Korea, Ye Quan emphasized, “As leading athletes in Korean ice dance, we want to contribute to promoting and developing this discipline further.”
The duo’s next goal is to secure an Olympic spot by finishing within the top 19 at the World Championships. “The World Championships are crucial for qualifying for the Olympics. We will use this competition as a stepping stone and focus more on training,” told Ye Quan. Lim Haena also expressed strong determination, “I will prepare my best for the upcoming World Championships. We have identified areas for improvement from today’s competition and will prepare for a better performance. At the World Championships, we will deliver an even more refined performance.”
