Daniel Grassl commented on his performance in the short program at the Grand Prix event Finlandia Trophy 2024. Today, the Italian figure skater finished sixth scoring 77.91 points. Here’s a translation of his comments posted on Sports.
“I don’t know what happened. I apparently didn’t handle the height on the jump well. This never happens in practice, truly.
Maybe I got too excited that I landed the quad loop and relaxed. It’s a lesson for me: you can’t lose focus even on elements that seem guaranteed. Maybe it’s a sign and at the next competitions, I might try doing two quads in the short program.
Yes, I lost a lot of points on the fall, but it’s not a big deal. The free skate is ahead, and I’ll start from scratch there. Overall, I’m pleased with the skate — I’m quite tired, so I’m just glad the short program is behind.
We did this short program with Benoît Richaud two years ago. I’m not sure I’ll keep it for the whole season; maybe my coach and I will come up with something new already for the next competitions. Several short programs — it seems to be a trend this season, ha-ha,” Sports correspondent Maya Bagriantseva reports Grassl’s words.
