In the interview with Nadezhda Strelets, Alina Zagitova spoke about nutrition issues after pausing her career. Here’s a translation of her comment.
“After I paused my career, I quite significantly gained weight — about 7-8 kg. I just ate everything, I no longer wanted to eat, but I kept eating anyway. I just couldn’t stop myself.
In adolescence, you are physically stronger. Then, when you go through female transitions — things grow here, and your body changes. And you can no longer handle as much workload, you experience a kind of stress with your body. And you don’t know how to deal with it.
Of course, the coaches gave some guidance to some extent, but you have to get used to the new body yourself, because sometimes it didn’t listen to you. You do everything the same, but it doesn’t work out.
We have such a complex-coordinate sport and literally 2 days of rest, even a day, and you try to reassemble yourself bit by bit. Even now, I could actually rest more time-wise, but I try to spend an hour on the ice every day to feel my body. At this point, I can no longer perform the elements that I did at 15 years old,” Zagitova explained in an interview with Nadezhda Strelets.
