After the test skates, Alexandra Trusova about her free program, quadruple lutz and possibility of her return to competitive sport. Here’s a translation of her comments.
“It has always been hard for me to perform; I can’t say that I have changed much, but what has changed is how hard it is to skate – my shape isn’t the same, I am much taller and bigger, it’s hard in general, my shape does not allow me to skate easily. Nervously – it’s very difficult to perform, I will still be lying down for two days thinking about where my strength has gone – it is given to the audience.
I decided that for now I will think about it, I need a few days, I just showed the programs, I need to breathe out, I need time. I felt all the support, everyone is waiting, everyone is interested. At all shows, I show a quite strong technical set, adding acrobatic and pairs elements,” said the skater.
“The program was choreographed in November by Nikita Mikhailov. He suggested this music, then added lyrics and beats at the beginning. When I started listening, I understood the purpose. I read the lyrics, and they hit me inside – in the soul. But no matter how hard it may be, we need to cope. That’s why the dress is minimalist and the makeup is like that.
There were no doubts about whether to jump the lutz or not. Of course, lately, it has been quite tough, changing time zones, tough training sessions. But rather, on the contrary, if I had succeeded in the first quad, I would have tried another one,” said Trusova.
