Wakaba Higuchi started the 2024/2025 season at the Tokyo Summer Games, finishing the short program with 62.06 points. She landed a double axel, and triple lutz – triple toe loop combination and triple flip with a loss of a balance. Here’s a translation of her comments.
There were mistakes on jumps during the six minutes warm-up, and she felt that “the sensations were different than usual” as she started her program with some nervousness. Nevertheless, she considered her jumps fairly good.
In the 2024/2025 season Wakaba aims for further improvement from last season, stating “I want to skate with confidence heading into the Japanese Nationals.”
Although there was a sense of being unfocused last season, this season feels different for her. “I have an image of building up step by step toward the Japanese Nationals, and I feel I have grown in that respect,” Wakaba said.
