The award ceremony for the team event at the Beijing Olympics will take place on August 7 in Paris. Team Japan will receive silver medals. Here’s a translation of Kaori Sakamoto and Yuma Kagiyama’s comments.

Kaori Sakamoto said frankly, “I’ve been waiting and waiting for the past two and a half years, so I feel like I’ve finally been able to attend this medal ceremony.”

“I’m filled with the feeling that the day has finally come to receive this medal. It’s a medal we all won together, and it’s refreshing to receive it at a Summer Olympics venue. Such experiences are rare, so I think it’s wonderful,” she said with a smile.

Yuma Kagiyama mentioned, “A medal won with this team is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Some of the athletes have already retired, so I really feel happy,” he commented. Regarding Shoma Uno, who was a member of the team but could not attend due to schedule conflicts, Kagiyama hoped, “Carrying Uno’s feelings, I hope to enjoy the ceremony.”
