Elizaveta Tuktamysheva criticized the given base value for quintuple jumps. Previously, the ISU assigned a base value of 14 points to all quintuple jumps, except for the Axel, which was not assigned a value. Here’s a translation of her comment.
“Either you make a scale for quintuples with such points that it’s motivating, or why do you need it at all? Now they’ve made it look as though it exists, but there’s no point in learning quintuples.
These laughable points that someone who makes history might receive – it’s an unjustified risk. Why should boys kill themselves over it now? I don’t understand. Apparently, they are leaning towards having more consisntent performances,” said Tuktamysheva.
Elizaveta also believes that she could return to competition. The figure skater paused her sports career in the fall of 2023.
“Answering the question (about the possibility of resuming her career) – yes, of course. Frankly speaking, my dimensions haven’t changed. And that’s the biggest problem when returning to sports. Anything is possible, I believe in that.
Just yesterday I landed a [triple] flip. I have the lutz, clearly. The salchow and toe loop are harder, I generally don’t like the salchow,” said the 2015 World Champion.
