Elizaveta Tuktamysheva believes that the value of quints should be higher. Here the translation of her comment.
Recently the International Skating Union (ISU) has assigned a base value of 14 points to all quint jumps, except for axel.
“Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: I didn’t quite understand [the low value of quint jumps], if figure skating is to be developed, the value of quints should have been made higher, I would even increase the value of a quadruple axel. These are ultra-complex jumps, I’m not sure that three people can do these jumps at the same time. Maybe Ilya Malinin will do a quint toe loop sometime in the near future.
I would still increase the value of quints, because it turns out to be an absolutely unjustified risk – to go out to compete, do quint jumps and get the same amount of points as for a well-performed quadruple salchow.”
