Valeriy Angelopol is 20 years old, he is the winner of the Grand Prix Finals of Russia-2023 together with Vasilisa Kaganovskaya. Their duo broke up in August last year. Then Angelopol switched to Plushenko’s Academy and started skating with Arina Ushakova. This partnership didn’t work out and Valeriy teamed up with Aleksandra Shinkarenko.
Valeriy Angelopol commented on the breakup of the duo with Alexandra Shinkarenko.
“Dear Sasha, I’m really sorry that things didn’t work out. I am truly grateful to you for coming into my life. You are wonderful and cool! I know you will definitely get everything you want! Thank you for your courage, you were not afraid to pair up with me despite all the stories about me and the difficulties! You are very brave!
But the difficulties turned out to be stronger than we anticipated. No matter what anyone says, now I am not able to change this. The last thing I want in the world is to hurt you and your career. Sometimes to save something, you just have to step aside and not get in the way.
Some may say – you should have thought sooner! Maybe. But sometimes desire and courage overcome all obstacles. It’s a pity that this time it didn’t work out. The circumstances were too strong. We really tried very hard.
P.S. Friends, we didn’t quarrel, this is pure truth. Anthropometry, injuries, contracts have nothing to do with it. I understand that last year and scandals have strongly shaped a certain opinion, but in this situation, it has nothing to do with it. Aleksandra Shinkarenko also spoke out about the breakup of the duo with Valeriy Angelopol.

I am terribly sorry that the situation turned out this way, and everything ended so quickly. The split of the duo was not a mutual decision, it was an absolute shock for me.
Valera offered me to team up during one of the most challenging periods of my life, I believed in his burning eyes and his desire to show the world what he was still capable of.
But during our work, difficulties arose which he was not ready to face. I believed in us and was ready to fight to the end.
In no way do I intend to give up, I will move forward, no matter how difficult the path may be. Sport is a cruel thing, anything can happen,” posted Shinkarenko.”
Tatiana Tarasova harshly commented on the breakup of the dance duo of Shinkarenko and Angelopol.
“Lately, it has become a custom in our sport to change partners. The guy is not sane. He changes partners several times a month.
Is he ruining the fate of talented skaters? We will find out how talented someone is in the future,” said Tatiana Tarasova.

Valeriy should have spoken with Aleksandra first. If he was not happy with the coach they could have considered different coach together (?). Without knowing the details, I feel he is somehow disrespectful to the girl.
