In the interview with Sport Express, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva talks about vacation, training camps and trying herself as a coach and even wine. Here’s a translation of her comments.

Q: Liza, how is your vacation? Was Portugal to your liking?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: Fantastic, I went there with Sindra (Kriisa, an Estonian figure skater). Artem Fedorchenko visited for a couple of days. We liked it a lot. We were a little unlucky with the rain in Porto, but I’ve been living in St. Petersburg for a long time, I’m used to such weather. We didn’t get to swim there, so we flew to Dubai later.

Q: Do you prefer to relax on the beach or tour cities with a guide?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: I don’t like just lying down, I definitely need to go somewhere. That’s why I love Phuket, where there’s movement, and you can take a scooter and travel to different places and see beautiful views and waterfalls.

Q: Is traveling in Europe difficult now?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: I had a visa, and a foreign card too. I just wanted to get to Portugal while my visa was still valid, because I don’t know when I’ll be making a visa again. In general, I felt comfortable.

Moreover, there was a surprising situation at passport control. I arrived, passed through… and a female border guard started speaking Russian with me, saying that they were very happy to see me and hope I’d enjoy my vacation. So, they recognised me. (Smiles.)

Q: If I understand correctly, in St. Petersburg it is not currently possible to travel abroad for training camps without the permission of the city sports committee. Is there a difference between domestic and overseas training camps?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: Actually there is no difference. When you’re on the ice, it doesn’t matter what country you’re in. But new countries can also bring inspiration and a good mood. Which is important for Aleksei Nikolaevich. But it’s also wonderful in Kislovodsk — the air, the mountains…(a training camp of Mishin’s group is held in Kislovodsk – ed.)

Q: What is your job now? Who do you want to be, Liza?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: We need to see what I wrote in the questionnaire in the first or fourth grade; maybe there will be a hint. (Laughs.) Right now it’s more about media activity. But now, at the training camp in Kislovodsk with Alexei Nikolaevich [Mishin]’s team, I want to focus on my feelings and figure out whether I can connect my future life with coaching. I’m unlikely to find an answer right away, but in the future, I see myself in this role.

Q: So in Kislovodsk you are working more from the boards?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: And on the ice as well. There will be a lot of shows in Sochi this summer – so in any case, I need to keep myself in good shape.

Q: Before the interview, I asked my subscribers to send some questions, let’s try a blitz. What wine would you recommend?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: French Pinot Noir – you can’t go wrong.

Q: Would you put your own child into figure skating?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: I don’t know, but they would for sure skate with me on the rink at some point.

Q: Can anyone repeat your achievement – consistent elements of Ultra-C after 18 years old?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: I think so. There are already girls who have learned Ultra-C after the age of 21.

Q: Who pays more for a show – Navka, Averbukh, or Tutberidze?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: More or less the same.

Q: Do you like cleaning up, is it usually cluttered or tidy around you?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: Usually organized, I’m uncomfortable in a mess, if it lasts long. But after coming home, there is chaos in the apartment for two days. Can’t say that I enjoy cleaning. I’m not a perfectionist in that regard.

Q: Can you predict the women’s podium at the Olympics in Milan?

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: Let’s do it without our girls, otherwise it gets too complicated. I believe in Kaori, she’s first. Second place will be taken by some young star from recent juniors. And the third – if not an American, then a Japanese, Korean, they are generally strong. But this is very difficult.
