The Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FFKR) has given Sofia Samodelkina approval to move to Kazakhstan.
In 2023, the figure skater gained citizenship of this country, and at the same time, she started the transition process. Sofia missed the entire 2023/24 season.
Today it became known that Kazakhstan has sent a request to the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKR) for the transfer of Samodelkina.
The FFKR has let go the 17-year-old figure skater, according to a source at RIA Novosti. Samodelkina will be able to represent Kazakhstan in international competitions starting from the next season.
Tatiana Tarasova, as usual, think that Samodelkina’s change of sports citizenships is not a loss for Russian figure skating.
“I cannot help but be indifferent to the fact that Samodelkina was let go to Kazakhstan. If the girl wants to switch there, then let her go wherever she wants.
We have no interest in her, so the decision is correct. Samodelkina’s transfer is not a loss for Russian figure skating,” said Tatiana Tarasova.
