Julia Lipnitskaya revealed what motivates her in her coaching work in a comment for Moscow figure skater magazine. Lipnitskaya now coaches at Evgeni Plushenko’s academy.
“Q: Julia, what is the most important thing for you in coaching work?
Julia Lipnitskaya: The most important thing is to try to give the athlete the opportunity to reach their maximum potential. Every child has a potential for the future – aim to reach this maximum.
Some need more time and effort, some less, each child has different abilities and possibilities, different attitudes towards sports, including motivation. This inspires me as a coach in my work.
When a coach invests their energy and time every day and sees improvements and progress, even if it’s not always fast and immediate, it’s definitely motivating.
The main thing is that the work process is ongoing: that children want to train and they enjoy it, that parents help and support their children, that there is interest, patience, understanding and desire. And then the results will follow – said the Olympic champion of Sochi-2014.
