Coach and choreographer Romain Haguenauer told “Match TV” that figure skaters Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin are now training at the IAM academy in Montreal, although they first approached this team two years ago.

“On Monday, it became known that the Russian-Georgian dancers Davis and Smolkin had moved to the Montreal academy, which is run by World Championships medalists Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon, as well as the French Romain Haguenauer.

“It all started with a regular process for athletes who want to train at our academy. Diana and Gleb approached us two years ago, but it was not the right time then. We thought that everything is now improving and we started collaborating. We are working on dance concepts for the new season while the skaters are developing their sports skills,” Haguenauer told “Match TV”.

Earlier, the daughter of Russian coach Eteri Tutberidze and Smolkin represented Russia. In June 2023, they moved to the Georgian team. Until recently, they were trained by Elena Novak and Alexei Kilyakov. At the World Championships in Montreal, Davis and Smolkin took 12th place.
