Georgian figure skater Anastasiia Gubanova commented on her performance at the 2024 World Championships and her plans for off-season. The words of the skater is being reported by sports.ru correspondent Maya Bagriantseva. Here’s a translation.

In the free skate, the Georgian figure skater came in 7th, scoring 123.76 points. In the final rankings, Gubanova took the 13th place (182.42).

“Today, I had strange feelings before stepping onto the ice. On one hand, I was very nervous, and on the other, I was remarkably calm. I felt like I had nothing to lose – I had to go out and do my job. I am happy with the skate, even though everything wasn’t entirely perfect.

After a disappointing short program, it was hard. But I went back to the hotel, cried, and started preparing for the free skate. It was very upsetting – the mistake in the short program was absolutely foolish, and I still don’t understand what happened.

I never re-watch unsuccessful skates because then there is a risk of getting stuck in upset feelings. The past is the past, and whatever happens is for the best, I believe in that,’ said Gubanova in a conversation with correspondent Maya Bagriantseva of Sports.ru”

“I am happy that the season has ended. Yes, the World Championships didn’t turn out the way I would have liked it to be, but I am glad I was able to redeem myself in the free skate. So, I am still finishing the season with a smile, there were a lot of good moments.

Ahead is vacation and the work on new programs. And a wedding, I need to start preparing for it – I haven’t even chosen a dress yet. All thoughts were around the competitions, but now there will be more free time. I will be celebrating my wedding with my loved ones in Saint Petersburg,” Gubanova told Sports correspondent Maya Bagriantseva.”
