The American dance duo won the gold medal at the 2024 World Championship in Montreal.
“We enjoyed our skate today. It’s great that we finished the season on such a high note – without regrets or sadness. Of course, the fact that we performed in an almost native city also mattered – we have been living in Montreal for six years now, and for us, it’s a second home,” sports.ru correspondent Maya Bagriantseva relayed Chock’s words.
“Yes, it was both easy and difficult to skate today. The energy of the crowd was literally pouring onto the ice. They greeted us so loudly after each element that it was hard to keep our focus.
We are very proud that we brought the gold back to American ice dance again. We have a long history of amazing duos, I was a huge fan of Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto when I was younger, we skated at the same rink, and I remember how much I admired them. We’re glad to continue this tradition.
We haven’t decided whether we will continue skating yet. First, we will celebrate this victory and our wedding, and then we will make plans for the future. A sports career requires major sacrifices, so it’s important to carefully weigh the pros and cons. We don’t rule anything out for ourselves, but we won’t rush with the decision,” Bates added.

Dear Maddie and Evan, I have enjoyed your run more than you will ever know.. From the first when Martha and Jim Nield started talking about you, I have been a huge fan seeing you in Stars on Ice and now at World’s and having dinner with your family. Your unbelievable moves coupled with your love story have been a real high to follow. As a former skater myself, I appreciate and honestly can’t believe what you can do. I wish you all the best in the future for a wonderful life together. You have brought so much joy and happiness to others, now it is your turn to enjoy each other. Can’t wait to see your wedding pictures and the dress I hear you designed. Much love and appreciation. Sally Lamphier
