Shoma Uno won the short program, scoring 107.72 points.

“I’m very pleased with the way I skated the short program. I worked hard to achieve this result. Today, everything was clean, but most importantly, I managed to exchange energy with the audience.

Does the title of world champion weigh on me? It doesn’t matter what happened in the past, what medals I have behind me. It’s more important for me to train well and be confident in my readiness.

I saw Yuma’s incredible skate, and I’m glad I was able to give him a fight. I’m ready for any outcome on Saturday (the day of the free program – ed.) if I know that I’ve done everything I could.

Tomorrow I will be resting, as I am older than my competitors, I need more time to recover, haha.

What do I expect from the free skate? That I will do everything so that I have no regrets and so my coach can be proud of me.

I’m incredibly grateful to my coach, Stephane Lambiel – I feel his support every minute. He has done so much for me, there are no words to describe it,” Maya Bagriantseva, a Sports.ru correspondent, reported Uno’s words.
