“Madison Chock: Today was the best performance of our rhythm dance of the season, we were happy to dive back into the atmosphere of the 80s again. Makeup, hairstyles, music – it was a cool time.
The audience was a great help to us, it was a very warm welcome. For the past five years, we have been living in Montreal, which has become our second home. But surprisingly, this is my first time at this arena. We actually live in a hotel and take the championship shuttle to the rink – so it feels like we’ve flown off to somewhere for a World championship.
Evan Bates: We’ve been looking forward to the World Championships in Montreal for so long – since the pandemic times. There are so many friends and family in the arena. We went on the ice today to have a great time, we wanted to entertain the audience, and I think we succeeded. But the biggest victory, in my opinion, is that after eleven World Championships with Madison, we still adore what we do. We are not bored, we still feel the thrill and drive.
Madison Chock: Is the title of world champions weighing on us? I decided not to think about it at all. It’s a new season, new programs, new competitions. Perhaps, if you start thinking too much about it, this thought can overwhelm. So I just changed my mindset.
Evan Bates: Do we have any news about the team medals (in Beijing 2022)? No, we usually find out everything from the press. Sooner or later, we will get them, but we are fully focused on the World Championships and don’t think about anything else. We are proud of how we are ending our another season and we are proud of our long career in sport.
Madison Chock: We don’t have long-term plans. We don’t think about the Olympics or the next season – at maximum, about tomorrow. One of the main future events is our wedding in June. I have already chosen a dress, so after the World Championships, we will focus on wedding preparations,” quotes Chock and Bates words correspondent of Sports, Maya Bagriantseva.
