Here’s a translation of Evgenia Medvedeva’s comment where she calls coaches the main authorities for athletes.

“The coach is the main authority in the world of every athlete, it’s a person you can truly rely on in terms of your results. In my case, the result is the outcome of my whole career over the past 20 years of my life.

It’s very important to find that authority that fits your worldview. The biggest responsibility in the beginning is choosing the right team that suits you. To choose the right team, you need to be able to build interpersonal relationships. It’s very important to be able to fit into society, then everything will be fine.

Many people believe that burnout is laziness, for some it’s an excuse to run away from responsibility. Burnout is a real thing, but it’s not a problem, it happens to us when we take on too much.

How do I deal with it? First of all, I warn everyone that it’s hard, and Medvedeva’s “battery” is already at 10 percent. I put away my phone, try to postpone matters that can be postponed, and start to recover. I go out of town, to the sea, and under no circumstances do I take my phone. I read books, start engaging in self-education. It’s important to switch tasks and do what you don’t do in everyday life. Rest here is a very good thing for growth.

You can somehow hide, run away from external pressure. Finally, if things get very bad, you can leave social media for a while. But you can’t hide from yourself. Therefore, it is important to first understand your position, what place you want to take in society,” said the two-time world figure skating champion Medvedeva during a networking session at the Synergy University.
