In the doping test of figure skater Kamila Valieva taken on December 25, 2021, trimetazidine was found. This became known only on February 7, 2022, after the team event at the Olympics in Beijing.

RUSADA suspended the figure skater, but on February 9, lifted the temporary suspension. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) allowed Valieva to participate in the individual event.

On February 15, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) stated that Valieva’s argument in favor of lifting her suspension was “contamination with a product taken by her grandfather.”

“In fact, the version with the grandfather’s glass arose during that very CAS hearing in Beijing.

Before the hearing, our side was asked to prepare a theoretical explanation of how trimetazidine could theoretically enter the athlete’s body. And Philip Shvetsky (the doctor of figure skaters – Sports.ru) had to suggest how it could theoretically happen.

So, in this case, it’s not some undeniable truth that everyone insists on, but just one of the theoretical ways of entry, which at that moment seemed the most logical to our side.

By the way, initially, there was another version in the development, involving Kamila’s dog. But it was quickly abandoned because it was highly unlikely,” said Vladislav Zhukov on the “Po moyey infe” podcast.

Random Eteri wakes up one morning and said: “Hey Doc, Anna and Sasha’s knees are falling apart. Lets drug Kamila.”

  2. Veran says:

I don’t think she doped in the Olympics, but since the results came positive at least once, it’s highly possible that the doping these girls receive are systematic. If Eteri dopes her athletes for training and only for training, there’s still an unfair advantage over clean skaters and it should be sanctioned

The test was administered on December 25, 2021, prior to Russian Nationals, and the result not announced until February 7, after the Olympic team competition, approximately a month and a half later. When was the test for the European Championships administered and when was the result announced? When was the test for the Olympics administered and when was that result announced? What was the time-frame for receiving the test results for Europeans and the Olympics? Were the latter two tests delayed like the test administered on December 25, 2021?
