Selevko brought Estonia its first-ever medal of the European Figure Skating Championships in the history.
“I came here with no expectations of winning a medal at all. At the beginning of the season, my only goal was to perform well at the European Championships. My shoulder is severely injured, so it was challenging to predict how my body would react to the stress.
After the short program, I was already in shock: a small medal seemed like the pinnacle of dreams. Silver, can you believe it? I didn’t even dare to dream about it. Perhaps I still can’t believe it, it’s like a surreal experience. Yes, it has been a dream of my life to become a medalist in major competitions, but in recent years, I had given up hope due to injuries.
Do I understand that this is a historic moment for Estonia? No, I don’t understand anything at the moment; it’s all a blur. It means a lot to me to stand on the same podium as Adam – he is my favorite skater. What are the immediate plans? I am going for training in America with Rafael Arutyunyan; we will work on the lutz and combinations. My brother and I are going together,” said Selevko to Sports.ru correspondent Maya Bagriantseva.
