Here’s a translation of Nina Pinzarrone comments posted in an interview or Sporza.
“All the encouragement from the Belgian audience. Hearing them applaud during my performance… Yes, that really makes me super happy.” Said Nina about the Belgian Figure Skating Championship. “Very unfortunate,” says Pinzarrone about the absence of Loena Hendrickx at the nationals. “But her participation wouldn’t have influenced my performance anyway. I saw the Belgian Championship as training and just wanted to do my best.”
“There’s a fierce competition in the sport. Maybe Loena is a bit scared of me because I’m much younger and getting higher and higher scores. I hope to reach her level later… and maybe even surpass it,” she chuckles shyly. “That’s definitely the goal!”
“I have to cancel a lot,” she says about her life of an elite athlete. “Parties and going out are not an option. But it’s a choice I made and one I am very happy with.”
Nina also mentioned difficult training conditions she has to face, “The ice rink at the elite sports school in Wilrijk is closed, so during school hours, I have to drive to two different ice rinks every day. It’s a waste of time. I have to wonder daily where I can train. I leave at 7 in the morning and only return home late at night.”
