Here’s translation of Sota Yamamoto’s comments about his performance at Skate Canada Grand Prix posted on Nikkansports
“Well, after I finished my performance, I felt like it was a close call. When I saw the scores for the Free Skate, I thought that winning would still be quite difficult. However, when I saw that I had secured first place, I was extremely pleased,” Sota said after finishing his free program with a score of 168.86 points in the Free Skate, and a total score of 258.42 points
“I want to do my best to show the ‘New Sota,’ who has evolved even further. I want to show an even higher level of performance,” Sota Yamamoto said with joy.
Looking ahead to the next competitions, the Cup of China, Sota expressed his enthusiasm while reflecting on his competitive journey up to this point.
“I was able to achieve results in the Junior Grand Prix, World Junior Championships, and the GP Final, but I experienced injuries, a return with a gap in between, and a significant period to regain my form after returning. I couldn’t have imagined that I would come back to this point after being injured. I felt happy last year, and today, I’m delighted to claim my first victory. I hope to continue to improve.”
