The Italian figure skater, a medalist at the 2022 European Championships, withdrew from the Grand Prix events in France and Japan.

In early September, it was revealed that Grassl had violated anti-doping rules by missing three doping tests.

He left the coaching group of Eteri Tutberidze, where he had been training since January of this year, and returned to Italy.

Subsequently, Grassl withdrew from all the tournaments he had registered for in the season, with his representatives citing his decision to take a break due to physical and psychological stress.
