Here’s the translation of Kaori’s comments posted in an article on Web Sportiva.

“I’m relieved that I was able to perform without major mistakes at the Japan Open for the first time. I’m satisfied with today’s free skate as I gave it my all, and I’m looking forward to improving my choreography, spins, and fine details to exceed 150 points in the future.

This season, I aim to progressively improve and compete against my past self in each competition, including the upcoming Japanese Nationals and subsequent World Championships. I hope to cherish each competition and strive for better results,” said Sakamoto regarding her performance at the Japan Open and goals for the season.

“Last season, the Grand Prix series didn’t go as smoothly for me, and I managed to return to top form only from the All Japan Championships. This season, I think I did reasonably well at the Japan Open, so I hope to maintain my best condition and deliver my best performance in both Grand Prix series events and the Grand Prix Final. If things go well there, I believe it will set the stage for success at the All Japan Championships. I aim to make gradual improvements and work my way up,” she added.

Speaking about her new free program which she previously described as “Mysterious Woman” Sakamoto said, “It’s a genre I haven’t explored before, so I’m still struggling with the artistic aspect. But as the season progresses, I hope to get better and better. This program is all about making a strong initial impression, so I’m consciously focusing on not diverting my gaze from the judges, and I’m being mindful of how I use my free leg and arms. I’m still in the early stages, but I hope people will see my continuous improvement as the season unfolds.”
