Nikolai Gulyaev, the President of the Russian Skating Union, stated on the air of “Есть тема!” program on the “Match TV” channel that the International Skating Union (ISU) Council did not discuss the issue of allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions at the meeting in Lausanne.

The ISU Council meeting took place from October 6th to 8th.

Here’s the translation of his comment:

“In this weekend, the ISU Council took place, and we were eagerly and skeptically waiting for the discussion of the issue of allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Unfortunately, this issue was not even discussed, although it was on the agenda. I do not understand where the information about the separation between us and the Belarusians came from, as this issue was not even discussed informally. I can state this responsibly because our representative, Alexander Kibalko, is a member of the ISU Council. Unfortunately, this time we did not receive any news,” Gulyaev said.

“It is surprising why this happened. However, there are some understandings and suspicions. The President of the ISU most likely feared taking responsibility for allowing Russians and Belarusians amid the clear anti-Russian position of all other winter federations.

They set their own agenda, and we cannot influence it in any way. Recent events leave no doubt that these guys do whatever they want, disregarding all imaginable and unimaginable rules, primarily the Olympic Charter. What is happening now can only be called outright lawlessness,” Gulyaev said during the “Есть тема!” program on “Match TV.”

You cannot be serious using the word lawlessness to refer to others. Days after latest war crime atrocity of 52 civilians including young children killed in a single place while mourning their dead. With comments like this hard to distinguish between Russian figure skating and criminal Russian government
