Professional figure skater Satoko Miyahara (25) felt her excitement rise as she prepared for her long-awaited competitive performance. She is set to compete in the Japan Open, a three-region team competition, as part of the Japanese representative team, taking place at Saitama Super Arena on the 7th. After an official practice session on the October 6th, she shared her feelings, saying, “I’m excited to stand on competitive ice, so I think I’ll be nervous, but I want to enjoy it.”

Miyahara announced her retirement in March of 2022 and embarked on her professional career. She has been polishing her skating skills through various activities like world tours. She expressed her hopes, saying, “I hope I can show that I’ve expanded the range of my expression, including how I present myself.”

Jump training has been essential for her to prepare for the competition. She said, “I narrowed down the possible combinations and worked on comprehensive training. I remembered my active days and did my best. I did feel that I could complete the four minutes better than I had expected.” Her chosen music for the performance is “Romeo and Juliet,” a piece that moved her during a ballet performance. She explained, “The theme is love, passion, and destiny. Since the choreography follows the story throughout the entire program, I want to express everything in the steps and the final choreographic sequence, so I hope you’ll watch those parts.”
