Russian coach and General Director of the Figure Skating Federation of Moscow, Nina Mozer, responded to comments made by American figure skater Vincent Zhou and Canadian figure skater Meagan Duhamel regarding Russian athletes.
Duhamel, in an interview with The Skating Lesson YouTube channel, claimed that foreign skaters who trained in Russia were given a substance similar to black resin instead of food during training. Zhou made a statement published on the Global Athlete website: “Valieva’s positive doping test is not an isolated case.”
When asked about these comments, Mozer said:
“With one of them, we competed head-to-head, and my athletes were her competitors. We used to make Duhamel nervous, so it’s not surprising that she continues to criticize all of us. That’s her character, her human qualities. We can’t do anything about it. I know how to prepare an athlete without any additional substances. I have enough experience to turn an athlete into a champion simply through hard work.
I know Vincent, I know many others; I have years of international practice. I’m familiar with all of them. They are not bad people; they seem to be carrying some grudge. It’s a time when everyone is trying to take a shot at us. Let’s be above it, be stronger. Let’s prove our righteousness on the ice by showing how talented our children are.” said Nina Mozer

Yes, it is true. But the damage because the Valiewa case for Russian figure scaters is immense. And so there is a general suspicion understandable. I am very sorry for the athletes who are innocent.
