“The version about the glass, it is a version based on facts.” Doctor Philipp Shvetsky about Valieva’s doping case
Doctor Philipp Shvetsky about his quilt in Valieva’s doping case and comments made by former Tutberidze’s skater Anastasia Shabotova.
From September 26 to 29, hearings are taking place at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the case of Kamila Valieva. A doping sample from the figure skater, taken at the 2022 Russian Nationals, tested positive for trimetazidine.
The positive result of the doping test only became known in February during the Olympic Games in Beijing.
“Why do I say I am guilty in the Valieva situation? Well, because I am guilty that the situation happened in the first place. It’s a kind of social responsibility, that’s the thing,” said Shvetsky, who worked as a doctor for the Russian national team at the 2022 Olympics.
He added that he is not afraid of being made a ‘scapegoat’ in this story.
“Yes, you know, they have already done that. As for the version about the glass, it is a version based on facts,” noted the doctor.
The words of former Russian and now former Ukrainian figure skater Anastasia Shabotova about “the right doping” in Eteri Tutberidze’s group were taken out of context, said Russian national figure skating team doctor at the 2022 Olympics, Philip Shvetsky.
Earlier, during a conversation with fans on Instagram the skater stated that for consistent high-level performances, one needs to “take a lot of doping,” emphasizing the need for “the right doping.” She later described her words as foolish. On Thursday, preliminary hearings took place in Moscow in the lawsuit filed by Shvetsky against the German journalist Haio Zeppelt regarding protection of honor, dignity, and business reputation.
“One of Zeppelt’s film theses is based on Shabotova’s statements. However, the fact is that she did not train with Eteri Georgievna (Tutberidze). As far as I know, she only had an internship with her in 2017, but for a very short time, about 10 days. Moreover, the video with the ‘right doping’ was taken out of context. If you watch the full video, it will be clear that she was actually joking and talking about pickles. In the end, she was set up with this video. Anastasia, as far as I can understand from conversations with her coach Svetlana Panova, generally communicates this way. Perhaps, during a training camp in Novogorsk, she saw that Eteri Georgievna’s athletes received candies in brighter wrappers and decided to say something,” said Shvetsky.
“In the end, Zeppelt presents it as if Anastasia, the poor girl, fled from Russia to Ukraine to escape the doping system, where she was beaten and not allowed to leave. And she supposedly said that Shvetsky and Tutberidze give the children pills and other things,” added the doctor.

No comment. Mr. shvetsky. It was a very bad timing. How could this happen? This girl is so talented, there was no need of such things. What a dammage for all scaters.
