The two-time Olympic medalist in ice dance and coach Alexander Zhulin called the request of the US Olympic team to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to admit its representative to the closed hearings on the case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva “audacity.”
“They have become shameless a long time ago. I don’t know why they’re doing this, but they are crossing all boundaries. They want to be everywhere and always, while others should not exist at all. I think the arbitration court could very well allow them. They are doing everything to destroy Russia. This is evident in every step they take. And now it’s completely unclear how many years we’ve lost.”
Earlier, American journalist Christine Brennan published a letter on social media signed by figure skaters from the US team who participated in the team event at the Beijing Games – Nathan Chen, Vincent Zhou, Karen Chen, Alexa Knierim, Brandon Frazier, Madison Hubbell, Zachary Donohue, Madison Chock, and Evan Bates. In the letter, they requested that the CAS allocate one spot for their representative at the hearings regarding Valieva’s case.
