In Kazakhstan, they are most likely not ready to pay compensation for Samodelkina’s transfer.
This was stated by the Executive Director of the Kazakhstan Speed Skating Union, Olzhas Besbaev.
Earlier, it became known that 16-year-old Russian figure skater Sofia Samodelkina intends to switch to the Kazakhstan national team and has already received the passport of this country.
“She did indeed receive a passport. Her mother obtained citizenship, as I mentioned earlier. She (Samodelkina) did not approach the federation or anywhere else.
No one has enrolled her in the national team; in any case, we will wait for her release from the Russian Federation. We need apply to the Russian Skating Federation, and there must be a basis – she needs approach us or her representatives.
Then, according to the procedure of the Russian Skating Federation, when they have their executive committee meeting. Will there be a need to reimburse any amount for Samodelkina’s training in Russia? That should be based on the Russian regulations. I don’t think we will be ready to do that,” said Besbaev.
The request for Sofia Samodelkina’s transfer to Kazakhstan will not be reviewed until December.
This was announced by the General Director of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FFKR), Alexander Kogan.
“All questions regarding athletes’ transfers are reviewed by the FFKR Executive Committee twice a year – in December and May.
Requests from other national federations are considered by the FFKR Executive Committee when all necessary documents are provided. The earliest consideration of Samodelkina’s request by the FFKR Executive Committee may not take place before December,” said Kogan.
