Tell us about the uniqueness of each of your coaches.
Sofia Akatieva: Eteri Georgievna (Tutberidze) is the main person in our team. She makes the decisions. She is very strict. For all the questions that we need to resolve, we go to her. That’s the way it’s in our group.
Sergeyi Viktorovich (Dudakov) is also very strict, very punctual. Serious. He is kind, but when it’s necessary, he is demanding. Until you get it done, you’ll keep doing it.
Daniil Markovich (Gleikhengauz) – he’s more of a creative type. You can joke around with him, talk about other topics.
Eteri Georgievna – she’s demanding, but at the right moment, she can make jokes, encourage, and it immediately becomes fun. But at the same time, you get focused.
Weren’t you afraid – the best coaches in the world, weren’t you afraid you wouldn’t measure up?
Sofia Akatieva: I wasn’t afraid I wouldn’t measure up, but I was afraid of making mistakes. That I could get kicked out. Of course, I wanted to stay in this group and skate with them because I understood that it’s the best group in the world. I really wanted to work there.
But it’s not only the best group of coaches in the world, but also the most demanding.
Sofia Akatieva: Of course, it’s the most demanding group, but that’s what makes it the best.
How many hours a day do you dedicate to figure skating?
Sofia Akatieva: I think around seven.
How many hours a day do you see your mom, and how many hours do you see Eteri Georgievna?
Sofia Akatieva: I see Eteri Georgievna more, of course. I don’t see my mom in the morning; she goes to work. Only in the evening, it turns out. But that’s how sports are.
Does it ever happen that Eteri Georgievna says one thing, and your mom says something else?
Sofia Akatieva: It never happens; they are usually together.
