Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has imposed sanctions against a number of Russian athletes. The corresponding decree was published on the official website of the head of state. The sanctions list includes more than 80 individuals, including figure skaters Nikita Katsalapov, Mark Kondratiuk, Alexander Galliamov, Dmitri Aliev, Ivan Bukin, Alexandra Boikova, Alexandra Stepanova, Alena Kostornaia, Alexaner Samarin, Evgnei Semeneko, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Vladimir Morozov, Ilia Averbukh (all those skaters performed in Plushenko’s patriotic show in Tula – ed. FS Gossips)

What do you think about the fact that a large number of Russian figure skaters ended up on this sanctions list?

“I’m afraid that our figure skaters who ended up on this list are not particularly eager to go there. And they won’t be eager to go there for many years to come. It’s like banning Katsalapov from entering Uganda. It’s about the same. Who needs Ukraine, no one is going there in the next ten years. I hope it will be sooner. I hope that it will already be called another country, that’s all,” Zhulin said to Match TV.

The sanctions are valid for five years and include freezing assets, banning trade operations, transit of resources, flights and transportation through the territory of Ukraine, termination of cultural exchanges, scientific cooperation, educational and sports contacts, entertainment programs with foreign states and foreign legal entities, refusal to issue visas, imposing other restrictions on entry into Ukraine, deprivation of Ukrainian state awards, prohibition of the transfer of rights to objects of intellectual property, and prohibition of acquisition of land plots.

Of course he had to throw some racism into his comment for the icing on the vile cake.

Thanks for clarification regarding the show in Tula. Respect to Kolyada – heroic act. In general, hard to oppose the federation which pays your salaries… And the federation gets money from the state… Uff…

  3. M. says:

Another disgusting and arogant Rushist. I agree that Zhulin should be banned from attending any international competitions.

Zhulin should be banned from attending international competitions. He now acquired in his training team two top Russian dance couples – Stepanova/Bukin and Chudaiberdieva/Bazin. He is already training a new team Shanaeva/Drozd. They should not be banned just because of their idiotic coach if they otherwise would fulfill the criteria to compete on international level in the future.

I do not get the list fully: in some cases, only ‘halv’ of the pair is included.. I do not believe Bukin, Tuktamysheva, Boikova etc do support the war.

They all participated in Plushenko’s patriotic show, which took place April 9th 2022 in Tula. There was even a scandal that skaters first refused to skate there when they realized what kind of show it was, but then consulted with Gorshkov and then skated there after all.

“Before Plushenko’s show, a patriotic concert was held at the Ice Palace in Tula – with the flags and slogans. The Tula media wrote that tickets for the show were not on sale, as this was a closed event. Allegedly, public figures, volunteers, students and representatives of the figure skating federation were invited to the Ice Palace. By the way, the letter Z was used on those same invitations.

Some figure skaters before the Plushenko’s show called the General Director of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FKKR) Alexander Kogan with clarification whether they could go out on the ice under such conditions. Thus, the beginning of the event was delayed on for 40 minutes, and some athletes (for example, Mikhail Kolyada), announced in the show, did not take to the ice.”

And immediately after the end of the event, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva and Alexander Boykova hurried to justify their participation in the show on their Instagram saying that they didn’t know about the event took place before their ice show and all the concept of the show.

“It’s like banning Katsalapov from entering Uganda”..Or, you know, banning Meghan Duhamel and Tessa Virtue from entering Russia because they’re not eager to go there either..;D
Seriously though: that man is vile. You can’t be a public figure in Russia and oppose this war, but there’s not saying anything or being as neutral as possible. Zhulin here seems to actually enjoy being a cheerleader and appears gleeful at the possible annihilation of a country. He should be banned from attending international competitions in any capacity due to unsportsmanlike conduct even after Russian athletes are back.
