Shoma Uno: Yes, there were mistakes, but I’m happy, just happy today. If you look at my career, I already had similar moments. There were injuries, just bad performances – before my family supported me, and now my team of coaches. They are the best, thanks to them, if not for them, none of this would have happened today.
Of course, I myself like to watch the emotional performances, when the athletes leave all of themselfs on the ice. The audience always loves it. But I have been performing so much already, and I know that when you come to compete, you need to control your head and emotions.
At some point, I decided that I had to go on the ice with a cool head and skate as if it was just training. That’s why my skating lacked emotions. I reviewed my performance at the Grand Prix Final and I didn’t like it. Yes, everything was well executed, but I did not tough people’s hearts.
And that’s exactly what I want. Yes, the result is great, I do not regret my victories. But now I’m thinking about what kind of figure skater I want to be in the future.
