After Anna Pogorilaya performed not very successful at European Championships her position in the team was not secure. If another girl shows some good skating at Russian Cup Final she probably can have a chance to replace Pogorilaya for the Worlds. Many thought that it could be Tuktamysheva. But Alexei Mishin told that Elizaveta Tuktamysheva won’t participate in World Championships 2016 in Boston. And explained why:

Obviously, Evgenia Medvedeva and Elena Radionova will go to Boston but Anna Pogorilaya can be under question? Or not?

Mishin: I can say that Elizaveta Tuktamysheva definitely won’t participate at World Championships, because we have some other plans.

What kind?

Mishin: Liza is included into the line-up of team Europe for the Team Challenge Cup, which will take place in April. She will be the first number of the continental team. The competition will take place at USA.

In your opinion, whether it necessary to search the replacement for Pogorilaya for the World Championships, or her performance at the European Championships, where she won the bronze medal, will quite satisfied for coaches?

Mishin: I believe that that to the World Championships should go the same trio, that participated at the continental tournament. They have been selected fairly, and are worthy to take part in the main competition of the season. I think that now the selection was quite civilized and correct. At the coaching council, in which I took part before the European Championships, no substitutions were discussed.

Honestly, I don’t want to offend Plushenko’s reuotatipn, a champion that has won so much, by thinking it would be capable of faking a surgery for the sake of… what? Pride? That would be an affront to our intelligence at the least. On November, Brian Joubert withdrew from the Cup of China lamenting abdominal pain and fever. And what happened? Some people started to say that he was faking the flu and he really withdrew because he stood in seventh place following the men’s short program.Again on November, Johnny Weir withdrew from the Cup of Russia due to an old knee injury flaring up. He finished tenth after a performance to forget. Again people put the wihdrawal down to the placement.I want to give enough credit to all these great skaters to think they wouldn’t fake sickness, injury, not to mention surgery, out of pure pride. Incident happens in all sports, as well as assessing wrongly one’s preparation or one’s state of health.Besides, fans wouldn’t stop loving them beacause they’re human and, as normal human beings, sometimes they can fail. And we shouldn’t forget that at the 2012 Euros Plushenko was criticized because, after he started the quad controversy, he did not jump it in the SP. But he did jump it in the FP, despite his back injury, just to make a statement, for those calling him “too old to win”.
