Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatiana Tarasova appreciated the performance of the Russians in the team event of the Beijing Olympics.

According to the results after three performances out of eight, Russian skaters are in 2nd place after the United States, two points behind the leaders.
Tatiana Tarasova: It could be a little better, but it could be a little worse. Someone has exceeded their capabilities, someone has not reached. And so, in general, not bad. I would like to congratulate Mark and his coach Sokolovskaya. No one expected this from him this year, at all. Last year, we only got to know him – and now, he did it, and this, of course, is very cool.
On the other hand, Katsalapov made a mistake in the short program. It’s a pity. And he lost to the pair that he had never lost to. True, very few – three tens, but the fact remains. He will continue to fight. The rest of the results, it seems to me, are fair, real.
It is very important that our pair (Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov) let the Chinese (Wenjing Sui and Cong Han) go ahead by only two tenth. Everyone is in love with them, including me. But ours skate in such a way, ours have such a program, they fight, they don’t look like anyone else, they make unique elements. And I would like to wish them the same free program. It was great.
The judging, it seems to me, was fair. After all, when such a small difference in points… It means that people had doubts and could not give more. It is very important. This is the first day, this is a very important thing.
