Nikita Katsalapov: Today was a wonderful skate. We enjoyed every second. It was very inspirational. We didn’t miss each other’s eyes for a second.
We tried not only to make elements, but to dance like it was for the last time. Unfortunately, there was a moment at the end that affected our overall score.
We lost the first place to the American pair, but we are not upset, because the performance was what we expected.
Victoria Sinitsina: Nikita supports me as much as possible, one hundred percent. We agree from the very beginning what we will do for each other. We dance for each other – this is the most important thing.
Nikita Katsalapov: Now we watched a replay – on the step sequence I got into a trace on ice. I quickly adjusted, but it’s still a mistake.
The judges had every reason to lower our scores, even if it happened by accident.
It’s a shame, because we skated with a very good mood and seemed to control everything … A free program is ahead. It is necessary to take into account every little thing and prepare well.

Nikita Katsalapov: I don’t remember exactly what I said to him. I don’t even remember in English or Russian, but I said something. The thing is, it’s been going on all day. Somehow accumulated, boiled.
Just five pairs on the ice in a five-minute warm-up is quite a lot. And we’re all in the locker room always arguing about it. But it’s gotten a little personal here.
Specifically to Donoghue? Yes, because it started in the morning. But all this remains only on the ice, there are no problems off-ice, they are cool guys. There is an ethic on the ice – we were the first to start making our own combination, they were already starting theirs and saw us. Gotta give a way.
