Riku Miura (24) and Ryuichi Kihara (33) of the Kinoshita Group have made a sudden announcement of their retirement from competition. Here’s a translation of their Instagram announcement.
“We, Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, have decided to retire from competitive skating at the end of this season.
To everyone who has supported us since the formation of our team, thank you so much.
We, “Rikuryu,” have been able to continue our competitive journey thanks to the support of so many people. Whenever we faced difficulties, there were always people by our side to lend a helping hand. Each and every one of those supports made us stronger and became the driving force that brought us this far.
We are also deeply grateful to all our sponsors, especially the Kinoshita Group, as well as to our families and friends who have always stood by us.
And to Coach Bruno and the entire coaching team who have supported us until now, we are filled with gratitude.
Thank you for always believing in us and guiding us positively.
The time we spent sharing both joy and frustration with everyone is an irreplaceable treasure for us. We will never forget all the experiences, encounters, and the support we have received from everyone.
Although we are closing the chapter on our competitive careers, we feel a great sense of fulfillment and have no regrets. Everything up to now is a source of pride and a precious asset.
From now on, we will continue to take on new challenges together so that more people in Japan can get to know pair skating.
We would be grateful if you continue to watch over us warmly.
Thank you very much for everything over the years.”
