Daniel Grassl reviled that he had to contend with food poisoning before the individual event at the Olympics that prevented him from competing at his best. Grassl finished in ninth place (263.71), a result that undoubtedly leaves some regret. Here’s a translation of his comments.

Grassl commented on his performance in the free skate to Rai microphones: “Competing today was very tough because I wasn’t feeling well. Yesterday I had food poisoning and was sick all day. When I tried to do jumps, I couldn’t. It was difficult – I wasn’t even sure I would participate. Still, I’m happy with how I fought until the end; in the second half I was exhausted, but I gave it my all.”

“After the competition, I had to go straight to the bathroom because I couldn’t hold on any longer. The first part went well and I felt very ready, but in the second half I collapsed. The team bronze medal makes me happy, but at the same time I’m disappointed because the problem happened right at the Olympics,” the Italian concluded.
