In a run-through to his short program music “I Wish,” he landed all three jumps: a quad toe loop–triple toe loop combination, a quad Salchow, and a triple Axel. After the run-through, he also checked his quad flip.
This competition is positioned as a key prelude to the Milan-Cortina Olympics in February 2026. Looking ahead to a second consecutive Olympic appearance after Beijing 2022, Kagiyama said, “This is a very important event for me to level up,” while adding calmly, “I don’t feel any pressure or anxiety at the moment.” With the event being held in Japan for the first time in eight years, he said, “I think some of my family will come to watch. I really want to give a fun performance,” expressing his enthusiasm.
