Stolbova & Klimov out of Russian Nationals

Eventually the entries lists for the Russian Nationals have appeared. So, now it’s officially that Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov have withdrawn from National Championship.

Actually it’s not a big surprise. Seems like for Pyeongchang 2018 Volosozhar and Trankov are planing the same scenario as Plushenko – participate only in team event (most likely only in the short program) with minimum quantity of events with serious competition. So, FFKR (Russian skating federation) wants to have two equal pairs what means Volosozhar and Trankov can’t lose to Stolbova and Klimov. But they need to show up at Russian Nationals to get into the National team and get the funding for the next season.

As for the Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov, they can miss the Russian Nationals and still get to the European Championships. The first and second place go automatically and the third pair will be chosen by the coach council. And it’s no doubt that they will chose the winners of the Grand-prix Final 2015 – Ksenia and Fedor.

But of course it’s all the conspiracy theories) There is also a photo in Fedor Klimov’s instagram showing that something is wrong with his back. Seems like allergy, or burn from an ointment. So, they could have withdrawn due to some health problems. But……the situations and rumours and speculations on this topic….don’t make them any favour of course.
