Mikhail Shaidorov who represents Kazakhstan talked about working with Alexei Urmanov and becoming a the first skater in history to perform a triple axel – quad toe loop combination. Here’s a translation of his comments.

“I decided to add the combination to my program two seasons ago, but unfortunately, at that time, I lacked the preparation and condition to perform it without other elements falling apart.

This year, I set a goal to execute it. I succeeded, and I am very happy. I also plan to keep it in my program and to refine both the technical and artistic aspects throughout the season,” said the Kazakhstani skater.

“I have been working with Alexei Yevgenyevich (Urmanov) for six years; I used to come to his training camps. Now, our relationship is like that of father and son. As my main coach, he does everything to make me better. We have a very good connection, understand each other well, communicate effectively, find compromises, and move forward together. I am glad to have such a professional and wonderful coach by my side,” Mikhail told about his coach Alexei Urmanov.

As for the plans for the next Grand Prix event, he said, “I will prepare for the next stage in Almaty, working to improve the artistic and technical aspects so that the judges have no reason to give scores lower than what I achieved in Angers. I will work hard to ensure that the results at the stage in China are better than those in France.”
