Marin Honda, the 2016 World Junior Champion, expressed her sentiments towards Shoma Uno, whom she is currently dating and who has announced his retirement.
“Marin Honda: Congratulations on your long and successful athletic career. Thank you for the countless inspirational moments and for leading us, then juniors, as a role model. My first impression of you, Shoma, was of an invincible rival to my older brother Taichi in the Novice competition. I clearly remember how, as we had more opportunities to practice together, the atmosphere would instantly become more tense when you stepped onto the ice. I truly respect how you never forget your goals and continually strive to improve your skating abilities, no matter the circumstances. I am looking forward to seeing the new Shoma Uno on the ice. Keep up the great work.”
