Here’s a translation of Nina’s comments made in the interview with Sporza.

During the World Championships, Nina Pinzarrone suffered from a nosebleed. The problem also emerged during her training and just before the free skate.

“I immediately had to sit down and call the doctor,” says the 17-year-old figure skater. “I started to cry and panic. I had a stress attack. I was scared to go on the ice and had too much stress: ‘Will I be able to do this?’ Fortunately, I received a lot of support behind the scenes.”

The doctor cauterized the blood vessel in her nose just before she went on the ice. “Without anesthesia, so it hurt more than three days ago. It wasn’t a pleasant feeling, but it was the only option.”

With a cotton wool in her nostril, Pinzarrone still completed her free skate. “That wasn’t so easy, because I could only breathe through my mouth. It’s also difficult to smile then. It’s challenging enough to skate full out for 4 minutes, and this time it was even more difficult. I did my best until the end and I think I did well under the circumstances.”

There is also no regret about her 15th place. “No, I have no regrets about my result. It couldn’t have been much better. I knew beforehand that it wouldn’t be my best performance ever. I’m already happy that I participated and didn’t withdraw.”
